Clarification before causticizing
Green liquor contains dregs that should be separated before the liquor enters downstream slaking and causticizing sections. Clarification helps protect process stability and reduces unnecessary solids carryover.
- Confirm green liquor flow and suspended solids conditions.
- Review required overflow clarity and sludge discharge method.
- Check whether flocculant mixing or internal distribution changes are needed.
Sizing and layout factors
Clarifier sizing is affected by hydraulic load, settling behavior, retention time and available tank diameter. Retrofit projects also need careful review of height, bridge access and discharge piping.
